This project is the 3D modeling of the statue of Pope Pius V, born Antonio Michele Ghislieri (1504–1572), founder of the Ghislieri College in Pavia in 1567.
It is a monumental baroque bronze sculpture made in 1692 by Filippo Ferreri in Rome, from where, it first reached Genoa and finally Pavia, where it was placed on a high base in white marble in the square facing the Ghislieri College in 1695.


The statue bears the following inscription (in Latin): PIO V P.M. COLLEGY GHISLERY CONDITORI MARCH. PIVS ALEX. FRAT. RAYMOND. PRIOR GHISLERY ANNO MDCXCVI P.P. BECCARIA P.P. PRAEFECTO. Photo of the bronze statue by Paolobon140 - Opera propria, CC BY-SA 4.0.

While the famous monumental bronze statue of Pope Pius V by Filippo Ferreri stands in the square outside the college building, a second one is inside. It is a large indoor marble statue of the college’s founder. Here follow a photo of the statue and a printed 3D model.

The 3D models has been shared to print 3D scale copies of the statues for the exhibit “Progression of Catholic Sculpture” that will be held in the parish museum of St. Elizabeth of the Hill Country Catholic Church in spring 2026, organized by Ref. Matthew Mellon and Mr. Ralph Lentz, senior lecturer of history at Appalachian State University.
