The burial chamber of St. Augustine opens with a tripartite sequence of triumphal arches, with eight pillars supporting statues of saints, bishops and friars. Inside lies the statue of St. Augustine, dressed pontifically. Standing at the four corners are statues of three doctors of the Church and a saint, in veneration. The statues of three deacons on each side lift with their hands the funeral veil. The upper part, vaulted, is enriched with representations of seraphim, archangels, saints, prophets and the statue of Christ the Redeemer that protrudes from the center, facing the scene below and towards the statue of St. Augustine.
Seated Monk at the top of the left column on the left side of the Ark. For each of the eight columns there are statues of monks (represented with the monk's robe) and bishops (recognizable by the mitre), standing on the pedestal, while figures of monks, bishops or Popes, above the previous ones, are seated and represented while holding work tools or books.
