Marco Porta is a full professor at the University of Pavia (Pavia, Italy), where he teaches Web and Multimedia Technologies in the master's program in Computer Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) and Web Design and Technologies in the interdepartmental bachelor's program CIM (Communication, Innovation, Multimedia).
He has a Master's degree in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Milan (Italy) and a Ph.D. in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Pavia.
He is a member of the research group of the Computer Vision & Multimedia Lab (Laboratorio di Visione Artificiale) of the Department of Electrical, Computer and Biomedical Engineering (Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale e dell'Informazione).
His main research interests include eye tracking, vision-based perceptive interfaces, visual languages and communication, e-learning, and Human-Computer Interaction in general, with an increasing focus on the use of Artificial Intelligence and machine perception for human-centered system design.
Currently, he is also president of the teaching council for the interdepartmental programs CIM (Communication, Innovation, Multimedia, bachelor) and CoD (Digital Communication, master) at the University of Pavia and chair of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society's Technical Committee on Factory Automation.
