The Image Science and Technology Research Center (IST)
has been instituted to promote common research activities
involving studies on digital images: analysis and processing of images,
recognition and image understanding, artificial vision, virtual reality,
architectures for image analysis, visual languages, multimedia systems and
image databases.
Aim of the center is: to support and coordinate research over digital images;
to enable synergic integration and exchange of skills, experiences,
information, along with cooperation aimed at the production of projects among
several subjects; to promote and encourage the education of highly skilled
researchers and technicians.
The Center designs and implements prototypes of usable systems working on
images or through images, in cooperation with public/private partners.
