Software and Communication Platforms for High-Performance Collaborative Grid

Expected results

The foreseen increase of several orders of magnitude in the speed of multimedia applications will soon trigger a new information revolution in the industrialized countries. It is essential that all countries keep up with this new revolution in order to avoid situations of digital divide. Tunisia has enormous growth potential, and some of its technologically most advanced institutions (such as Université de Tunis, Université de Sfax, Université de la Manouba) are the ideal candidates for research partnership with European research Institutions on advanced information and communication technology topics. The present collaboration can bring significant advantage to both sides in terms of scientific knowledge and strengthening of the Tunisian-Italian partnership towards establishing core competence in the design and implementation of the next generation optical internet, meeting the explosive growth of the bandwidth demand that is so essential to bring the fruits of the information and communication technology to the society. The joint project will strengthen research and education exchange activities between the two countries, eventually exploiting the potentials of Information Technology to develop innovative cross-cultural educational programs, through advanced learning management and knowledge sharing systems.

The assemblage of different expertise in a single joint laboratory can become a powerful tool for both research and industrial future collaboration between the two countries.
